Huntington Story

53 year old woman Janice Jones was shot in the leg on Wednesday night by her dog.

"Janice's dog knocked her 9 mm handgun off a seat. The weapon discharged when it hit the floor, and the bullet passed through Jones; leg and through the side of the vehicle," said Tammy Rye
Animal Control officer Janet Ngo says Jent dog has been placed in the care of Animal Control and has shown signs of abuse.

"The dog seemed to be malnourished," said Ngo. "One of the animal control officers reported fresh cigarette burns on its forehead. My office will be filing for abuse charges against Jones"

Although Jones was shot she has more than just an animal abuse charge coming her way.

"Officers cited Jones for expired plates and the county’s district attorney’s office was considering whether to charge her in relation to the gun accident, Rye said."Jones doesn’t have a permit for the gun"
