WHY: Due to great grades, hard work and good attendance
Bowie High School student, Avery Shelton has been announced the, 2017 September student of the month. Her ability to balance school work and extra curricular activities, impressive grades, and outstanding effort into every assignment made her standout to all the teachers and the principle for the student of the month.
"I am so proud of her because this is something she has been working hard to achieve," Avery's closest friend Elizabeth Shymkiw said. She really does deserve it with all the effort she puts into every assignment she completes."
Avery's priorities when it comes to school are her grades. In order to keep up her great grades, she really tries to fully understand what the teacher is saying.
"In school I try to maintain what the teachers say by taking good notes and not getting distracted," Shelton said.
Avery's mom Saw her winning student of the month as no surprise when it was announced. She really expresses her pride in Avery for winning and hopes she wins again.
"I was so happy she finally won because she really deserves it since she works so hard all the time, Avery's mother, "Jessica Shelton said. "I really think this will even boost her to work harder to win again since she is pretty competitive. Even though it was a surprise I really think we all saw it coming eventually."
Not only is Avery a well involved student with clubs and activities but she dances as well. Avery has been dancing for a very long time had easily balance her crazy school schedule with her dance schedule.
"Avery defiantly balances everything great," Shymkiw said. "She always has time to hang out, and study which is super cool, I wish I had her ability to plan out her whole schedule, get amazing grades, and hang with friends."
Avery agrees that their is some great things about high school she also thinks there are some cons to high school.
"My least favorite things about high school is all the pressure and stress it come with it, but my favorite thing is all the freedom we receive as a student," Shelton said.
As most students Avery sometimes finds it hard to do homework after a long busy day, but she has some tips for motivation to complete all her work.
"When I am doing homework I know that all the studying and work will pay off in the future," Shelton said. "Even though it doesn't quite benefit me at the moment it will keep up my grades and help me go to college."

This was very good. Nice work. A couple of errors with your attributions and punctuations, but overall it is done well. You stuck with quote-transition style and you also had a good flow in terms of inverted pyramid. Good Job!!
