- My older brother Dylan and his wife Camila live in an apartment in north eastern Houston. They are not able to leave their apartment building due to the bayou they live by overflowing. They recently got married over the summer in Mexico, it was a really small wedding so this weekend we were planning on throwing a reception party but we can not now because they can't leave Houston as well as some guest who were going to attend.
- If their was a major storm going to affect my house I would check my insurance to make sure it covers flood damage first. Then I would take all sentimental items and pack them up on a higher floor or in a car to keep them safe from potential water. Then board up all the windows to prevent them from breaking. Lastly I would probably evacuate the city just to stay safe.
- I think the government should fix all damage road ways and any major government buildings. They should also provide shelter and resources to the people who don't have a home because of the storm.
- If the property is insured of course the insurance company should but other than that the owner should be responsible for any damage.
- I think climate change did play a role in this. If the waters were not as warm as they had been I don't think Harvey would have lasted as long or collected as much power as it did from the warm water. If it was not as powerful it would not have had much of an affect on the Texas coastline. Therefore climate change was definitely a factor.
